Indication
This medicine contains paracetamol and codeine: which are pain relievers.
ALGOCOD 500 MG/30 MG is indicated for patients over 12 years old (weighing 33 kg or more) for the relief of moderate acute pain when other analgesics such as paracetamol or ibuprofen (alone) are not effective.
Dosage
Long-term use of ALGOCOD 500 MG/30 MG is not recommended without careful consideration of the risks versus benefits.
To avoid the risk of overdose, check that concomitant medications do not contain paracetamol or codeine (including both prescription and over-the-counter medications) (see Warnings and precautions for use, Special product warnings and precautions).
Codeine should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time. This dose can be used up to 4 times a day with an interval of no less than 6 hours between doses. The maximum daily dose of codeine should not exceed 240 mg.
The duration of analgesic treatment should be limited to less than 3 days and in case pain relief is not achieved, the patient/carer should see a doctor for advice.
